Meesho's massive marketing strategy was ruined by one wrong post, what did they do? How did they respond?
On the 1st of September, people started seeing posts on celebrities’ social media saying they have acted in a “Mega Block Buster” their posters were released, and having had no prior announcements people were confused. Especially since it included a lot of big names like Rashmika Mandhana and Rohith Sharma.
But our Dada, Sourav Ganguly decided to clear things up and copy-pasted the whole email, including the lines that said, this was actually for the brand Meesho and nowhere should it be mentioned. Anyways Long story short, a lot of money was spent, a lot of time and effort to coordinate but, all went up in smoke with a single post.
But the Meesho Marketing team did not let their spirits down, they took it positively and turned it around by tweeting the screenshot of the mistake and saying “ When Dada hits, it’s a six, when Dada mishits, it’s still a six” and it has gone viral and in some way, brought more media traffic than the campaign would have.
