The Problem With Super Man
Superman has a problem that made him loose to Ironman, Let us see what that is!
Superman or Batman used to be the favorite character for most of us growing up, but today your answer might be Ironman or Captain America. Back in the days before Robert Downey Jr. Dawned the mantle of Tony Stark and got 3000% of our love, the Marvel universe wasn’t very well known and most people hadn’t even heard about these characters while DC was at the top of its game with everyone’s favorite characters like wonder woman and Flash in their arsenal.
Here are 3 reasons why Marvel rose to fame and DC didn’t as much:
Direction: The Marvel heroes had more down-to-earth relatable lives and stories that the audience could relate to while the DC heroes had darker less relatable and more god-like stories that often made the audience feel like bystanders rather than part of the narrative.
Consistency: Marvel Studios had a well-planned storyline that interlinked movies and gave viewers something to hope for in the next movie which kept them coming. Moreover, Marvel went to great lengths to ensure continuity going as far as hiring back actors from 15 years ago to finish their roles. While on the other end DC consistently keeps up their streak of inconsistent casting and storylines having changed 3 batmans in the last 15 years.
Series: Marvel built a huge movie franchise, developed characters, and set up a good base on the backs of which today’s series like She-Hulk are riding on. On the other hand, DC does a good collection of series with Flash being our all-time favorite here but, somehow DC failed to capitalize on this.
This might seem like Marvel fanboying and maybe it is a little bit but the important thing to see is, that this shows that even if you have a good or bad product, proper planning and delivery are paramount for the long-term success of the brand.
